I’m excited to announce that I’ve just launched a copywriting and marketing freelance business called Breezy Words. I write website pages, blogs, sales and marketing material, ads, reports, eNewsletters and more for small business owners who don’t have time to do their own marketing. I also offer copy editing and proofreading services and social media content creation and management.
But what I most want to mention on this blog is my book and author marketing services. As you may have seen on my About me page, I spent years working in the Australian publishing industry as a marketer for publishers Allen & Unwin, Simon & Schuster Australia and Murdoch Books. I also worked as a marketer for book retailer Doubleday Books and as a bookseller at Dymocks. In the UK I worked in marketing for academic publisher Wiley-Blackwell. As well as having a BA degree in Communications (majoring in journalism and creative writing), I also have a Diploma in book editing and publishing which means I can look at your writing from both an editorial and marketing point-of-view.
I now want to pass on my knowledge and expertise to unpublished, self-published and published authors who are looking for some advice on how to market their book and themselves. Whether your book is a work-in-progress, you have a final manuscript, or your book is already published but needs some marketing love, I can work with you on setting those book marketing wheels in motion.
My book and author marketing services include:
Book sales package:
I write your book blurb or edit/offer feedback on yours and write your Author Title Information sheet (includes title info, blurb, sales points, author bio). This is a one page selling document you can give to book retailers and buyers, reviewers and readers.
Manuscript Appraisal Package:
First I read and review the first three chapters of your novel before you submit it to a literary agent, publisher or for an unpublished manuscript prize. Then I look at your submission letter, synopsis and any other material that is required for your submission. Lastly I offer a feedback report with constructive notes on the strengths and weaknesses of the chapters and submission material and offer you advice on how to improve it.
Author Website/Blog and Social Media Audit and Recommendations:
I do an audit of your author platform (a website and/or blog) and other social media accounts, assess their content and suggest changes to increase your performance and reach. You’ll receive a report on what’s working well, what could be improved and tips on how to increase your audience.
Author Platform and Social Media Advice:
So you’re just starting out on your author journey and you need help building your author platform? I can advise you on how to best attract readers and subscribers to build your blog and social media following.
Content Ideas for Your Blog and Social:
Are you out of fresh content ideas for your author blog? I can give you ten great content ideas tailored to your book and you.
Marketing Plan for Book Promotion (working within your budget):
Just give me your marketing budget and I will come up with a marketing plan tailored specifically to your book that you can carry out by yourself. Even if your budget is tiny, there are still book marketing strategies you can implement. Get in touch with me as early as you can prior to your book’s publication. Much of the marketing work needs to be done before publication to ensure success. But if your book is already out and you need help boosting sales, I can still help.
General Book Marketing Consultancy:
When you’re not quite sure what you need to do to promote your upcoming book and you need guidance. Or you’re on the road to becoming a published author and need advice on how to increase your profile. Get in touch and I can be your book marketing coach.
How to get in touch
If you can’t see a book marketing service you need listed above, please get in touch and we can discuss your needs. I won’t try to sell you expensive services that you don’t need, but instead will give you honest guidance and expert advice that’s specific to your book.
The best way to get in touch is through my Breezy Words website contact page.
