Welcome to What Jane Read Next. I’m so glad you stumbled upon my little part of the internet.
My name is Jane and I’m a bookaholic. I’m also a word nerd, a book collector, a keen bookstagrammer, and a reader who reads around the genres.
I live with my husband and two little dogs in a beautiful coastal town in Australia. My favourite pastimes are reading and writing–which is why I started this blog.
When I don’t have my head buried in a book, I work as a freelance copywriter and marketer for my own business Breezy Words. I previously worked for many years in book publishing in Australia and the UK. I’ve also worked as an English Language Teacher in South Korea and the UK. Find out how I help busy business owners, as well as unpublished and published authors.
On Reading
One of the joys of reading is being able to share what I read with others. I love recommending and debating books. It’s also great to hear other people’s perspectives. I hope this blog will encourage you to leave your views on books. Visit this page to see my reading interests and review policy.
On Writing
I also love writing and it has been a huge part of my life since I was a little girl. I’m very interested in the art of writing: reading about writing, talking about writing, thinking about writing and generally procrastinating when it comes to my own writing.
I hope you enjoy my blog and thanks for visiting.
We have nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award! Congratulations!! 🙂

Any blogopal of Literary Tiger is a blog worth reading, and a blogger who has been nominated for the Booker Award is obviously a Book Booster. Care to add your name to the growing list?

Hi Jane! This is a great list. I am also sketchy when it comes to fantasy books, but I would like to suggest a novel (it’s part of a series) that completely changed how I view this genre: “The Name of the Wind” by Patrick Rothfuss. If you can get it, I highly recommend! It’s lengthy, but writing style and thematically it falls somewhere in between Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, with a slight twinge of A Game of Thrones. Also, I used to live in Manly, Sydney! I miss Australia very much.

Hi!
I’m happy to discover your blog! Here’s a Q: Have you heard of a book called, “Where’d You Go, Bernadette?” by Maria Semple? I would love to get your opinion of it. I thought it was hilarious; it’s narrated by a girl whose uber-neurotic mother walks off and disappears. It is not a tragedy nor is it completely a mystery.) The mother moved from California to Seattle. It’s super funny and yet has an interesting themes underneath. Not totally profound, mind you. I moved to Seattle from NY and wondered if anyone not familiar with Seattle would relate to it. It’s been doing well here in the US. So I would be curious to get a reaction from a nonUS citizen from down under.
Thanks!
